AIBU to ask for the abbreviations?

I’m a MumsNet ‘lurker’. I have been for many months. Enlightening and entertaining in equal measure.

AIBU… to ask for a list of the regular abbreviations used? I’ve tried to get my head round them, and think I’m doing ok. Yet there are still many regulars used which I still fail to comprehend…

DH, for example. From the gist of the conversations, I ‘think’ I know this refers to one’s husband.

So in my head I read…
“D-ear H-usband”, yet know full well the abbreviation ’DH’ is very likely completely different! 🤭 x

The abbreviations list isn’t complete, and some boards may have developed their own which aren’t readily comprehensible - don’t be afraid to ask if you’re mystified.

I don't bother with any of the abbreviations.

Why use DS when it's easier to type son 🤔

MummytoE · 06/05/2025 16:33

I sometimes read DH etc as dear husband, dear son. . Also shouldn't Mumsnet head quarters be MHQ rather than MNHQ or am I just being pedantic 😂

Not a comprehensive list. CF isn’t cystic fibrosis on here, it’s Cheeky Fucker…
