I Just wondered if anybody has been in this situation, I am in a pretty dire place at the minute living wise and on the council I have 45 points and have been ranked 4th on the properties I am bidding on? Is this a good sign?

A very good sign

Thank you, but the thing is they are bidding for me and I am now number 3, the location is miles away from my children’s school but I am very very grateful for their help

Anybody else been in this position?

If they are bidding for you, you basically get what you're given. Children can move schools right up to year 9 and will be fine. 4th is a great position, but 1st will probably get the home. But it means you will get one soon.

I currently have an 8 year old DD and 5 year old son. Do they require separate rooms?

Could it be a flat?

I was 4th once & was shocked to be offered a property. The first 3 people had refused it for various reasons.

Was you offered something decent? I am just worried about the area as the housing officer has told me not decline any offer

4th is very very good. As a pp said, if the first 3 decline it for any reason then it's yours. Definitely accept what you get offered otherwise you'll be shoved right down the list as as far as they're concerned, if you were really in desperate need of a council house then you wouldn't decline it.

I really don’t want to change my children’s school. I might not have a choice

If they are bidding for you, you would have to ask them why and if you didn’t want them to could they stop, they may not though.

8 and 5 year olds of the opposite sex can share a room so it may be you end up with a 2 bed flat if that’s what they’re bidding on for you.

In my area, if you decline 1 reasonable offer (and it being far from school is not a reason to decline) your banding would be removed and you may be suspended from bidding for 6 months.

I just don’t understand why they would be bidding for me. I am massively grateful for the help but there are other reasons that for it needing to be reasonable close (my dad is blind and he requires a lot of support from me)
