Help! No sex drive

CunningLinguist1 · 05/05/2025 23:59

Adore my DH but perimenopause and menopause has killed my sex drive. Am happy with my body, confident in who I am etc, but sex is just … not on my radar anymore. Am 52 & 3years since my last period. Don’t want it with anyone else & would only ever want DH, so not ”bored” w him etc & he was always excellent at sex & a great partner. He’s super understanding, but I miss being able to be intimate with him, and I just don’t want to. But if I did it would be with him.

How do I get my mojo back? What has helped you if you were in “my boat”? Is it over for me & sex? Does it come back?

HRT?

ThatGladTiger · 06/05/2025 08:05

Go to a private GP and get a testosterone prescription. Game changer for me.

This is with HRT so if you’re not on that then think about it. My doc said that testosterone converts to oestrogen so you need to make sure those levels are normal first!

Need to update and say that HRT is sadly not an option for me (BC history in family)

I don’t think that is a contraindication to be honest. But obviously it’s an individual choice. I would do lots of research and speak to an expert if you can afford to go private. For most women the benefits of HRT outweigh any risks.

The WHI study with regards to breast cancer has been debunked. Though many GPs are not up to date with the latest research.

And to add HRT and specifically testosterone was the only thing that helped me.
