To think manners and common courtesy are in rapid decline?

This morning, on the same public transport journey, I had a man stand on the very edge of my shoe. If I hadn't moved my foot so quickly, he would've trod on it. He knew he stood on my shoe as he looked back. No words of sorry came from his mouth.

Then, the man who I sat beside wanted to get off. He stood up and I was staring out of the window in the other direction so didn't notice he stood up at first. He didn't say excuse me at all, nor thank you when I got up to let him past. I'm pleased to say that women and kids are much better than men with their manners it seems but I was left feeling really quite fed up after my encounters. AIBU?

It’s not a rapid decline. This could’ve happened 20,30, 50 years ago too and look we’re all still here rubbing along

you’re just doing that old person thing of “kids nowadays!”

This was two individuals who were rude. It’s a minuscule sample size on which to write off the whole population.

I agree. I recently moved back to the UK and it's very noticeable. There are more angry/rude people. It's not just men.

Yes this type of behaviour has massively increased in recent years

Driving this is suddenly so apparent. Barely anyone waves a thank you anymore if you wait or pull over for them.
makes me sad really.

Me too.

Stop focusing on the negatives

It’s because those men come from places where women are 3rd class citizens, behind the menfolk and the livestock.

They will literally barge older ladies out of the way to get on the bus and grab a seat.

See it every day.

2 minor nothing incidents is not indicative of society
