After 11 yrs our faithful Dyson has died a death. Very sad!! I’ve had cancer surgery that’s left me with a weakness on my left arm so it needs to be portable and good enough to deal with the worlds hairiest dog.. please help!!

Shark pet anti hair wrap

Yup, I second this. I have 3 cats (one is a Maine Coon) and it handles that really well.

Dr13Hadley · 01/05/2025 16:50

Third vote for the shark and they have excellent customer service. We called them as ours broke just two months before the 5 year guarantee ran out and they sent us a brand new one like for like, so the newest top of the range one. We received it within two days.

ThatBusyRoseLion · 01/05/2025 16:51

Our Shark is awful. Would not recommend at all.

Octavia64 · 01/05/2025 16:55

Henry.

my Dyson also died recently.

i got a cheap one and it broke immediately.
replaced with a Henry.

it isn’t light though

Pinkballoon5 · 01/05/2025 16:59

I have the shark anti hair wrap and it picks up way less hair than I needed. I now have a Henrietta pet version which is better. My shark is not used

CherryBlossom321 · 01/05/2025 17:18

I’ve tried out lots of brands of vacuum in my previous role as a cleaner; Shark, Henry, Vax etc. In my experience, Dyson are unbeatable.

roses2 · 01/05/2025 17:21

Agree with Dysons - nothing else compares in terms of suction and low maintenance as long as you wash the filter regularly. Either DC55 or DC75 which seem to have good reliability reviews - you can pick them up refurbished on ebay with warranty from shops.

ladyofshertonabbas · 01/05/2025 17:21

Shark, powerful and the clear tank is a little boost during a boring day, seeing it fill up with stuff.

growinguptobreakingdown · 01/05/2025 17:35

I have just bought a Sebo X7 and I love it.I've had a Dyson (constantly cleaning the filters to keep it working, started smelling of dog ), a Henry (good enough but heavy, large and suction only ok), a Miele cat and dog (amazing even after 15 years but didn't want another cylindar). The Sebo is the best vacumn I have ever used.My stair carpets and rugs look new. It's really light to push and carry and it automatically switches from carpet to hardwood.I'd never use a bagless after my Dyson experience though.Read reviews Sebos last for years and people rebuy.

lifemakeover · 01/05/2025 17:40

Can't believe no one has said a Miele yet. Best vacuums around IMO. I only replaced my last one because the lid came off and it looked a bit tatty, but it was still working perfectly after well over 10 years and two house renovations.

lifemakeover · 01/05/2025 17:41

Oh sorry @growinguptobreakingdown - you did say Miele cat and dog! That's what I've got - it's brilliant.

Another vote for Sebo. Built like a tank and surprisingly easy to push. Ours must be over 10 years old. You can buy replacement hoses etc,. It uses a paper dust bag which holds a lot and is easy to change.

Sunshineandrainbow · 01/05/2025 17:48

Nothing beats a sebo. Had mine over 15 years. Well worth the money.
If you have John Lewis near you go and test one!

48wheaties · 01/05/2025 20:44

If you want something light try the Hoover HL4 Pet one. It is a bit like my old Dyson, uptright and very easy for use. My teens love it, so it's a winner here!

NippyChippy14 · 01/05/2025 21:07

SEBO X7 - very powerful and great for large square rooms but I found it heavy; my house is very old and small and has weird nooks so this was just too big.

Miele C3 Cat & Dog - bought one based on all the recommendations on here but I found it awkward and the wand wouldn’t stay extended unless it was on the lowest setting, so I sent it back as faulty.

Shark NZ801UKT - this is the latest one I have, and so far so good, and it’s fairly lightweight too because of the small cylinder. The “lift away” is a great feature for getting under furniture and for use on the stairs, and it comes with a pet tool too.

Miele 💯🥇
