To think that bras are just sweat/heat traps?!

Am I being unreasonable to declare bras are absolutely awful in hot weather?

The worst offenders are the ones with foam or whatever padding is made from, I feel like I’m cooking my breasts (like chicken?!).

The underwire lacy ones, the stretchy ones, the sports ones, they ALL give me sweaty underboob. And I have not got a big pair! (Actually had a mastectomy so one is decidedly smaller than the other too!)

Tell me if I’m being unreasonable to think that bras are rubbish in warm weather?! And if not, what brand do you wear?!

YANBU. I find it impossible to find a comfy one. They are all made of the most awful fabrics as well

SwedishSayna · 30/04/2025 19:23

Agreed. And at a larger size each individual one costs a small fortune and wears out quickly

BertieBotts · 30/04/2025 19:23

YANBU - I did get some little boob sanitary towel things for this last year which have helped a lot. I think they were from "More of me to love" on amazon. They soak up the sweat rather than the bra band just absorbing it constantly and then staying damp the whole day (ick).

I do think though boobs are just sweaty. If I go out with no bra my t-shirt gets wet instead on the back and under my chest.

I started disliking bras while breastfeeding some years ago and developed a horrible rash under my boobs. Since then I take them off the moment I get home and sometimes even go without to supermarkets nearby. The warmer the weather the faster I feel uncomfortable and start feeling like I will get some sort of itching soon.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 30/04/2025 19:25

They can be the devil’s oven mitts in v hot weather

However in this sort of weather and more the cotton ones with no wire or padding should be fine.

Are your bras cotton?

EveryOtherNameTaken · 30/04/2025 19:26

As soon as I get home after work I whip it off and put a t shirt on. I can't believe how instantly cooling it is when it comes off.

Picklechicken · 30/04/2025 19:29

Yanbu. I am convinced in the future no one will bother wearing bras anymore. We will all just freeboob.

minnienono · 30/04/2025 19:31

Never had an issue but I’m not a sweaty person, (it’s actually a problem because barely sweating means I overheat, my grandmother couldn’t sweat at all)

MsNevermore · 30/04/2025 19:32

Bras are shit in all weather.
I hate them.
I’ve never been particularly blessed in the booby department, so 99% of the time, I’m braless. I will wear a non-padded, non-wired crop-top thing under a white top to stop it being see-through, but other than that? Never wear a bra day to day.
I’ll wear one if I’m wearing a top that requires the girls to be a bit more lifted, but I like to keep those occasions to a minimum!

Surroundedbyfools · 30/04/2025 19:32

botb bras and tits are just a nightmare in hot weather. Not to be dramatic but I hate the heat I feel like im sweating and dying simultaneously

Hdjdb42 · 30/04/2025 19:47

I actually started to put deodorant under my boobs, and now they're never sweaty or smelly!!! Big win!!! I buy those bralets from m&s, there no wires or padding. Much more cooling and comfortable.

LoveTKO · 30/04/2025 19:49

You are right OP, but there’s no way on this God’s earth I could get away without wearing one. I have too much to contain so I need a bra.

Atarin · 30/04/2025 19:51

I haven’t worn a proper bra since lockdown. I wear a ribbed crop top from John Lewis. I’ve got 4 of them, so comfortable. Just wish they made them in more colours. They’re not sweaty at all, I find they wick the sweat away. If I go braless I find it more sweaty.

I don't want my melons bashing about thanks. The pain... If you have big boobs you're going to get sweaty with or without a bra. It's the underboob.

Sayithowiseeit · 30/04/2025 20:03

I stopped wearing them all winter, I'll wear a comfy sports type one if I really have to

VexedofVirginiaWater · 30/04/2025 20:06

Now that I'm old with no partner and big boobs I fantasise about just not having breasts at all, it would be so much easier and more comfortable.

SunnySideDeepDown · 30/04/2025 20:14

Are you definitely wearing the right size bra? You say your boobs aren’t large so I’m a bit confused why they’re presumably sitting on your chest to cause sweating. I can understand large chests could get sweaty laying against tummies.

Im a size 12 and 32D and my boobs don’t sit on my chest at all so no sweaty underboobage. My boobs sweat in the cleavage but it’s not much and isn’t noticeable.

Without being rude, if you’re carrying extra weight it may be that. Being large tends to increase sweating everwhere.

I agree, I wouldn’t want to not wear a bra. My nipples would chafe too!

Livpool · 30/04/2025 20:29

Agreed - I hate it when the band underneath gets damp and stays that way if I sweat

Edited

This is a mare for the big of boob. Bralettes are no good. And I can't find cotton bras for bigger boobs. Indeed I bought some that said they were and they weren't.

Under boob is an issue. I have started using liquid talc which has helped.

Depends if you have perky or droopy boobs. Mine have always been droopy, even as a teen. And so many bras for bigger boobs are for bigger perky boobs, not droopy heavy boobs. I’m now a 34F and most wireless bras on me will be sagging by mid-afternoon and digging into my shoulders. I’ve tried a millions styles, spent a fortune.

So that’s why.

Susiesue61 · 30/04/2025 20:38

If you have bigger boobs (like me!!) you can’t go braless, they just rest on your tummy and you sweat underneath. Absolutely grim

CorbyTrouserPress · 30/04/2025 20:39

I’d never get my boulders in one of them
