To invite them all over for a party?

OK so just for context - I’m mid 50s - was born in the late 1960s so proper Gen X Babe!!

I’ve just been looking through some pics on Facebook from my class photos in school. I’m very nostalgic about the past.

Everyone in the last year in secondary school who was in my class - I’m pretty sure I’ve got them all on Facebook - all 32 of us are on there - we don’t do Insta lol!!!

Anyway, I’d love to invite everyone over for a house party - everyone in my class -

Firstly - out of a class of 32 - think mixed/mainstream school - how many people do you think would turn up - all of them ? 🤣

Should I have a sleepover ? Grin

And can someone please suggest some suitable party games/themes?

I think it would be a great way to get people together !

How much wine have you had this evening?

TickTockPolly · 29/04/2025 21:07

I’d start by creating a FB or WhatsApp group to see who is interested.

Of those who initially say they are interested, I expect around half will actually turn up. The other half will be busy or flakey.

You could do a poll to find out what people would enjoy doing. A party is a bit vague for some people who like to know what to expect. An afternoon BBQ or drinks evening may be better.

Good luck

Sleepover 😂

Cantthinkofadifferentname · 29/04/2025 21:10

Very similar age to you, I'd say go for it, as the moment I'm going to funerals of school contemporaries.

Brutalist · 29/04/2025 21:10

😂 have you seen the bottomless brunches where there’s someone with a microphone leading old school hymns? That would be an amazing theme for a karaoke session.

@Brutalist I’ve seen these and they look hilarious!!
“give me oil in my lamp…” 😂

Ask on an Whatsapp group to gage interest. ...there will be a few with bad memories like me who say no. Please respect that. I wouldn't suggest a sleepover... Just a catch up with food. But please respect those that say no... Sometimes things are better left in the past...

@TimYouDisappoint Do you still speak to many of them day to day? 😅
In theory it sounds like it would be funny but in reality many may not feel as nostalgic as you 😂

Personally I’d run a mile if I got an invite for a reunion 😂

Go for it. Do it like an old school empty. Make sure someone invites some randoms you don’t know. Serve only alcopops and 20/20.

ThisIsMyYearToFindMyself · 29/04/2025 21:17

Some will be dead.

Some will live too far away.

Some will have no interest as they hated school/learning/bullies.

Some you won’t find as they won’t be in touch with anyone mutual.

And of those left, who knows?

“Sing Hosanna to the King!”

(One boy at the back.. “…OF KINGS!”) 😆

Makes me want to host a reunion party just to do this..

In my country this is actually a common thing. We do it every 5 years or so. I have separate meetings for primary, secondary and high school. Every meeting we vote someone who has to organise the next one. Its great fun!

Make it a toga party!

(Dress up in a nicely pinned bed sheet)

I really don’t think anyone’s dead - thank the Lord - but you’ve got a point about living too far away ❤️

Give everyone 6 months notice at least.

Sidebeforeself · 29/04/2025 21:26

Im jealous that your old school mates still live near enough for you to consider this. All mine are spread to the four corners of the earth

Fair enough - yes do speak a lot to them on Facey and went to quite a few really good 50ths!

Someone spends time and effort making a reunion for our year of university. It's a proper chore that I assume she enjoys doing.
I'm not going to ever go.

ThisIsMyYearToFindMyself · 29/04/2025 21:31

Since I was 19 I’ve not seen or heard from anyone apart from a few messages ten or so years ago on Facebook. I don’t have that account anymore so that’s not going to repeat itself.

I moved away from the area aged about 20, and I don’t have family in that area any more. I guess a lot of these connections are because people are still local?

Might get some odd replies suggesting a sleepover 😁
