My granddaughter has just been telling her mum about a friend she had - in what very much sounds like a past life!! It has freaked us out! Can anyone identify a girl’s name that sounds like…

Komalasey / Comerlase / Komelase etc etc?!

Does it exist as a name?

Might just be random syllables though, kids do imagine friends so can come up with anything.

How I’ve written it, she’s only 4 so wouldn’t be able to spell it for us so all we’ve got to go on is her pronunciation

My daughter used to talk about someone called “Sister Micheal” when she was about 2. Very weird.

My dd has a child in her class who has Komolafe as a surname - I think Dad is Nigerian.

There was a lot of detail in this story - some pretty gruesome detail which makes it all the more spooky! I’ve tried googling the name and variations of it but nothing coming up

So, what we have is an imaginative 4 year old telling stories who can't even make up an actual name, so is making up a nonsense one?

Can't help on the name unfortunately but I really wouldn't worry.

Many young children speak about 'past lives' or 'friends' that don't actually exist. Sometimes, it can be a mixing up of actual events, other time, purely fictional, but nothing sinister and a totally normal thing for their age/stage of development.

There is a Tamil/ Hindu name Kamalese, which is pronounced carm ahl ey se

Ask her about it again in a couple of weeks, see if she comes up with the exact same name. Also ask her for a description, where she lived etc.
