Shamlessly posting for traffic.

Daughter is taking combined science GCSEs. She is adamant it is through AQA. She sits her first exam in just a couple of weeks.

Helping her revise today. And stumbled across an issue. Or maybe it’s a non issue.

The codes her teachers have supplied (see picture) do not match the “codes” in the contents of the revision guide.

For example, the list given by the teachers says in paper 1 Biology, B6 topic is preventing and treating disease. The CGP revision guide contents pages says B6 is Inheritance, Variation and Evolution.

Another example paper 2 Chemistry - list from teachers says C9 is crude oil and fuels. The CGP book states C9 is Chemistry of the atmosphere.

Which is correct? Does it matter? Might she have the incorrect exam board?

Trying not to panic her but I know these codes mean something (teachers have referred to codes in parents evenings by way of what topics have been covered or need to revise etc).

Any GCSE exam teachers out there that can please advise? (I think images may take a while to be accepted and load.) Thank you.

Contact the school asap. My niece's class sat the wrong English paper and didn't do as well as expected. Do they have the correct revision guide?

The units given look like the chapters in the text book from Oxford science. The CGP book uses the units as written in the Spec. She has the same content just broken down into smaller chunks. So for example her B1&2 are B1 in the spec. From her units you should be able to identify the relevant pages on the revision guide.

Science Teacher here. The topics listed by the school match the way it is set out in the AQA text book, but the revision guide has combined related topics. For example C1 is atomic structure and C2 is periodic table in the AQA text book but the revision guide has both as C1. The content is the same and it is still in the same order.

Do ask the school to be safe, but I don't think there is an error.

It's just the AQA textbook lists them as the school has listed them and CGP list them slightly differently. As long as she knows which topics/content to revise, she will be fine.

It's honestly highly unlikely that there would be an error with which board they were doing, especially at this stage.
