Keto - I had a diagnosis of Diabetes in January so went low carb then to control blood sugars - have lost 3.5 stone since. Am 54 and peri

Honestly, counting calories, weighing out carbs and upping the amount of protein I eat.
It’s a chore but it’s the only thing that seems to work.
being more actively generally also helps but doesn’t shift the weight in its own.

I bought a treadmill and go on it every day. I'm also eating better. I don't look 6mths pregnant anymore.

vincettenoir · 26/04/2025 19:07

Skipping breakfast helped me with my blood sugar. I also strength train and eat plenty of protein.

Nutracheck app £27.99 for 12 months. Using portion control I lost 2.2 stone in 7 months, I didn't take up any exercise. Following a recent scan my non-alcoholic fatty liver is now back to being normal.

Wakemeupbe4yougogo · 26/04/2025 19:15

Seconding the Nutracheck app, it's utterly brilliant and most barcodes just scan in. I'm type 2 diabetic and have to lower carb (not Keto) to keep my blood sugars under control. I had no idea how many calories I was eating in cheese/nuts! I stick to 1400 calories a day, have a protein shake for breakfast and walk at least 10k steps a day. I'm 54 and have lost 4 stone so far.

Just do not eat too much and eat good stuff, like fresh veg and fruit, no sludge.

RisingSunn · 26/04/2025 22:03

Cut down on sugar and buy a skipping rope!

SaladSandwichesForTea · 26/04/2025 22:04

Skipping breakfast and ditching as much upf as possible.

I can now eat more without gaining weight.

Skipping is a bit hard on my knees!

The trick is not to skip on concrete/ground! Only on a rubber mat or similar and only jump high enough to clear the rope. No leaping 😅.

One3C · 27/04/2025 08:11

@RisingSunn that is a great tip, thank you

Going to make some nutritious vegetable soup today ready for the heat wave!!!

Work out your tdee and reduce the total by 20% to get a weight loss calorie target. You need shockingly way less calories than you’d like to think.
Weigh and log everything on My Fitness Pal so you can keep track.
