Parent and child spaces

Full disclosure i am being a tad unreasonable because I did use these spaces in the past when my dc were babies. The additional size was really useful for opening car doors in order to unstrap babies from car seats. However I've been looking at them from a different perspective of late, due to taking my 90 year old parent out and about. Today at a garden centre there were loads of empty parent and child spaces, really near the entrance, yet lots of older people having to walk across the large car park. Aibu to think that if stores want to provide these spaces they should be positioned further away from the entrance as parents of young children don't usually have issues in walking and pushing a pram across a car park? And perhaps they should consider replacing them with spaces for the elderly? Lots of older people are not technically disabled but they do struggle with loss of strength and mobility, making it much harder for them to walk additional distances.

They’re not normally empty, sounds like you got lucky.
