I have posted this in sn children but reposting here for traffic

Hi all,
Ds asd aged 7 and has access to LA autism support group. They hold weekly play sessions which are inaccessible for us as special school transport doesn't arrive in time. This easter break they held a trip out and I thought I'd try it out. It was a local museum and cost was same as if I'd booked myself. The staff from the LA group didn't engage with children instead on arrival suggested we do our own thing. Wondered around and staff just sort of stood out way, not talking to families or making any attempt to engage with DS. I'm not expecting them to entertain him for a few hours but would have thought they might want to chat and ask about us but they didn't appear approachable. Is this normal? Am I expecting too much? Like I say they are a local authority group/charity so not volunteers but this their paid role

What I'm finding is the support really varies from area to area. Is there a local Facebook group you can join or ask others locally if its always like this? Or what else is available?
It doesn't sound particularly beneficial for you.

I've found in my area there isn't much support or help. The one thing there is isn't accessible to us.

Hopefully others will be along to offer some more advice.
