Taking our dates of birth ?

My son and his partner live with us along with their 2 yo . They are having problems with his sleeping . So the health visitor comes to visit yesterday and during her visit she asks for the names and date of birth of everyone living in our home ! They gave her the info but I must say it has made me an little uncomfortable. Other siblings and my husband also live here but why did she need all out details . It’s got nothing to do with their son sleeping !!!! Aibu to feel uncomfortable about this ???

Well that does seem odd. I could perhaps understand her wanting background on numbers in the household and their age range just to get a view as to how busy the house was etc,

I am a contrary witch though, so if someone asked for my relatives date of birth I would be telling them it’s not my personal information to share , and I would need their permission.

You would be within your rights to ask why it was needed , and where the data is stored.

I do hope she was able to help the little one though.

That is a bit strange. Do you have Children’s Centres/Family Hubs in your area? I know in our area when you sign up to use them, or visit one, they do ask you to write the d.o.b of everyone visiting so maybe the HV was getting you all signed up so you can use them with the toddler in the future?

Isn’t it normal for a HV to know who lives in the home, and any new visit is always a check. It’s a safeguarding thing for any baby/child and to ask everyone so no one is missed.

Thank you to everyone who voted and it’s made me feel a bit better that I’m so uncomfortable with it !! I just feel now they have all these details who knows what they do with them or why they need them in the first place . It feels very over reaching to me
