Mumsnet icons for thanks & agree

These two icons are very useful for appreciating people's replies without typing another post.
But admin, can you add another one please? On the back of another thread about bitchy replies I think you should add a "fuck off" icon we could use in response to those unnecessary bitchy/goady replies.
Obviously the best thing to do is ignore them of course!

YANBU. Also, would be good to see how many reactions each post gets

Please please not another opportunity for unpleasant posters to be abusive and rude.

It's bad enough the way some posters use the laugh emoji to mock serious posts that they don't agree with without giving them the chance to be really offensive.

Because in real life, no-one ever laughs when someone says something ridiculous...

I'm not talking about people laughing when some one says something ridiculous.
I'm talking about posters laughing at serious posts that offer a different opinion and which can no way ve construed as ridiculous.
I'm talking about posters using mockery to deride and be offensive to other people who are offering a genuine point of view.

A lot of things happen in "real life" . Doesn't mean to say they are necessarily good. In fact they are generally the opposite.

Mumsnet is aggressive enough already.

Allthenameshavegone1972 · 20/04/2025 11:28

@Seagreensmokeyblue & @ThatNimblePeer yes I can see your point there actually. Think I'd reached the end of my tether with how nasty it's become ; but adding a fuck off icon (no matter how satisfying it would be to use on occasions) would only add to it & make me as bad as them!

Yes I agree with this^^

Personally I don’t think there’s enough difference in meaning between the thanks and agree icons; sure they’re slightly different but are pretty much interchangeable most of the time.

I also think fuck is is far too strong and aggressive. Occasionally warranted but it’ll mostly be used in an abusive way. Perhaps a disagree icon but even then that’s probably a bad idea as users should post if they disagree and explain why.

This. If you want to challenge nasty posts, report them or do it publicly.

@Lonelycrab I've kind of retracted my post now, as you'll see from my reply above.
Think I've spent too long on here this weekend, & should get on with more useful things. This joint of lamb won't cook itself 🙂
