Neighbours having parties every month

We live in a huge apartment block. 20 floors.

They're having a party (again)

Im underneath.

Music so loud.

Dancing and banging on the floor.

Slamming balcony doors and shouting.

I've just gone up to complain and they're saying I'm unreasonable as it's their friend's birthday. Then they said tomorrow they'll have one as it's Easter.

Last time it was X then Y Bla Bla.

Our building has policies against this. Aibu?

Complain to building management?

Going to on Tuesday. Just reported to concierge and he was really rude to me telling me it's not his problem.

To be fair to him, if he doesn’t have any authority then he’s probably just going to get abused if he tries to stop it. You are best going the official route, maybe keep a diary of the issues as well.

People can’t be silent all the time

They can be silent at almost 2am when their neighbours are trying to sleep.

they don’t have to be noisy to the point of being disrespectful either. A party at 1 am is a block of flats isn’t fair on the neighbours

I don't expect them to. What I don't expect is a party at 2am happening monthly.

You're right. He's probably knackered too!

Well they've finally stopped. I'll report on Tuesday.
If they'd have forewarned me I'd have probably said okay but they only moved in in December and have had 6+ parties since.

I explained I've been here for 7 years and never hosted a party during the night. He claimed I must be a party pooper. 😁 Maybe I am but I'd go to a club or rent a hall or something!

Hard one last block of flats was every night till 3,4am and tho several of us complained to the council who owned the flats we all ended up moving out. I managed 6months and that was enough for me. Where I am now it's probably similar once a month from 1 or 2 flats and it feels like nothing compared to the last

icelollycraving · 20/04/2025 03:11

If you own it, then consider carefully if you want to declare a problem with a neighbour and noise if you were to sell your flat.

Well then they shouldn't live in an apartment where it's against the rules

There won't be a problem to declare presuming the building managers step up. If they don't, OP can go to the council and make a complaint via Enviromental Services.

fckingneighbours · 20/04/2025 04:04

I don't own. I rent. My landlord is on the other side of the world so no help there.
Hoping the management will act but then we've still got cladding so maybe not.
Either that or I'll send dd6 up at 6am after the parties

Do you not understand the difference between normal living noises and making a great bloody racket? The OP isn’t asking for silence.

ZepherinDrouhin · 20/04/2025 04:36

Do you have young children? If you do, then set up an early Easter egg hunt in the morning. Encourage them to be very excited and as loud as they like.

Vacuum every room of your flat twice so you don't miss a spot as it's Easter.

Put on some opera or loud choral music at full volume & then go for a walk at 9am.
