Vinted: buyer cancelled few hours after purchase

Springsunshine28 · 19/04/2025 07:26

I listed a vintage bomber jacket on Vinted – it had about 20 likes and 50 views. A buyer purchased it but then cancelled, saying she hadn’t properly checked the details and didn’t like something in the print. Vinted cancelled it without asking me – I think maybe because I hadn’t created a label yet?
I know it’s not the end of the world, but I’m really annoyed. It feels like a waste of all those views and likes, and now I’ve lost that momentum. I haven’t replied to her yet, but AIBU to feel a bit put out?

Just put it back on.

Minieggmug · 19/04/2025 07:28

Annoying but you haven’t really lost anything?

GaspingGekko · 19/04/2025 07:29

Did you put a lot of energy into that momentum? Or did it happen just from posting it?

MyUmberSeal · 19/04/2025 07:29

It’s annoying but also relatively common. Buyers and sellers both cancel sometimes. I wouldn’t worry about momentum. I don’t buy stuff based on how many views it’s had or how many people have added the item to their favourite list. I wouldn’t say that was a huge factor for most people. If I like I’ll buy it. Re-list it again. It’ll sell again.

Bert2025 · 19/04/2025 07:29

yanbu to feel a bit irked but these things happen on a selling site. Buyer should have looked more carefully before offering but I believe their behaviour is within the guidelines. Get it back on there and it should sell no problem if it had a lot of likes etc…

BallerinaRadio · 19/04/2025 07:30

I struggle to see what you'd want to say to her or what messaging her would achieve

WhereIsMyLight · 19/04/2025 07:36

Buyer doesn’t need to ask you if they can cancel it. You hadn’t prepared the shipping label and it was a few hours after they’d bought it. They’ve not done anything wrong.

Vinted isn’t social media. So views and likes are meaningless. 20 likes actually suggests it’s a nice item but priced too high and they are favouriting for when you reduce the price. Just re-list it, it’ll take about 5 minutes to re-list it. If it’s a nice item, it’ll generate the views and likes again. If it’s priced well, it will sell again quickly.

Windowtothe · 19/04/2025 07:37

It’s normal. If plenty of people liked it, it will get liked again as people will have searches on certain brands etc. At least you hadn’t already sent it, it’s not much work re-listing.

OatFlatWhiteForMe · 19/04/2025 07:37

I think you are being a bit overdramatic. There is no need to message the woman .

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 19/04/2025 07:39

It happens... no big deal.

It takes 30 seconds to relist?

dudsville · 19/04/2025 07:40

I've had that, buyer cancelled when i was at the door of the PO to send it, but then i relisted and it sold again before I got more than a few feet away from the po. It's better the buyer is all in.

greengreengrass3 · 19/04/2025 07:41

Your reaction seems totally unnecessary to me, the views & likes means nothing in regards to you selling the item.

it’ll take a couple of minutes to relist, no reply is even warranted.

DaisyDooordont · 19/04/2025 07:53

It’s a very minor inconvenience. It’s not worth giving any thought to. Just be thankful you didn’t ship it and then have to wait for it to be sent back when they buyer didn’t bother collecting, which they could have also done if they’d wanted to.

Holeypyjamas · 19/04/2025 07:57

YABU, it might happen to you one day as a buyer or seller where you have to cancel.

If Vinted offer this option the she’d be a fool not to use it and just carry on with the purchase anyway.

consistentlyinconsistent · 19/04/2025 08:08

It happens all the time. Don’t know why it’s an issue.

WhatMe123 · 19/04/2025 08:13

Your allowed to cancel as long as seller hasn't sent. Just re list and remember most of those likes wouldn't have ended in a sale anyway 😁

boredwithfoodprob · 19/04/2025 08:14

This happened to me on Vinted. It’s a little irritating but not much you can do. Just re-list.

Eldermillennialmum · 19/04/2025 08:17

You haven't lost anything

just re-list it

BookishBabe · 19/04/2025 08:20

I cancelled a purchase a few days ago and I did feel guilty. I bought something for £25 + fees and postage making it £30. Brand new the item is £42.
Then someone else listed the same thing for £10 + fees and postage made it £13.
I did feel really guilty, but honestly, I'd be silly to just accept paying the extra £17 when vinted let's me cancel.
I was very apologetic and was honest about buying the item for cheaper.
I was so grateful she didn't message me being nasty, I did feel anxious and guilty about it.

LumpyandBumps · 19/04/2025 09:59

It is irritating, but better she cancelled when she did than wanting to return later, which would have delayed things much more.

Energe · 19/04/2025 10:10

Don’t message her fgs

lilacflowerpetal · 19/04/2025 10:18

YABU. I cancelled something for the first time recently (not clothes, but linked to a hobby). I bought quickly as it looked a great deal and this type of item sells almost instantly if a good deal - it wouldn’t get to anywhere near 20 favourites unless overpriced. However after buying I had a closer look and the labels didn’t look right at all and I couldn’t find the same on the internet. I did send a message first asking where they had been bought as the labels were different to those on the same items I already owned but their response did not reassure me so I cancelled before they could print the label.

MzHz · 19/04/2025 10:20

Put out? Yup, but enough to make an issue of it? Message her?

don’t be ridiculous. where the fuck is resilience in people anymore?

Copy and paste, repost it. It’ll sell.

Sahara123 · 19/04/2025 10:29

It’s annoying but you could’ve relisted it in the time it’s taken to post here ?!
