called an ambulance for someone else , I’m not with them but know of the situation (don’t want to give any outing details). Is it usual for ambulance service to message this 20 minutes after the call? From a usual 07 mobile number?

message is as follows
Ambulance Service: We are continuing to arrange help. A clinician may call you back from a withheld number, so please keep your phone line clear. Only call 999 again if the patients condition worsens, alternatively should you no longer require help, please reply CANCEL to cancel help from the ambulance service or call us on 999.

never had this before when I’ve called!

Sounds genuine.

What's your concern?

Haven't had reason to call an ambulance recently but I had a similar text from the police, and when I replied with an update they responded immediately.

We recently had a 25 hour wait for an ambulance. We had a similar message and 999 called us back every 4 hours. Sadly DH was in hospital for over 3 weeks because of the delays.

Yes for my Mum a lovely man called me who updated me whilst waiting for an ambulance and gave advice and tried to find an alternative solution to support us

The NHS is broken 💔 on the 26th March requested help for central chest pain, pain in arm pit and pain radiating down left arm. They took 45 minutes to arrive and then didn't scoop and run, my beauty died as we arrived at hospital. Absolutely devastated, such a broken, dysfunctional NHS

ChangingRooms2000 · 18/04/2025 21:23

I’m so sorry @Trumpetpants Flowers

Yes I had a similar text last time I was waiting on an ambulance.

followed by a phone call an hour later saying ‘there are no ambulances coming can you get the patient to hospital yourself’

which actually I could because the only reason an ambulance was called is because the 111 technician insisted and specifically told me not to take the patient myself…

all in all over an hour wasted that could have been spent sitting in the a&e queue.

Yes, I had that exact message when I called an ambulance just before Christmas.

hatgirl · 18/04/2025 21:35

I've lots of those messages on my work phone from times I've had to ring the ambulance as a professional

Harrumphhhh · 18/04/2025 21:40

Yes. I called an ambulance last year and got a similar one.
