To think MN is being trolled right now.

The thread responses are particularly batshit and unMN-like right now.

Are we being trolled?

If so how long until they get bored.

or people want to be part of the debate but are not fully educated on the issues ?

It happens every school holidays without fail . They're bored of entertaining their kids and want to start winding people up or go into fantasy land

MarkingBad · 17/04/2025 19:08

There are an awful lot of posts and threads that sounds like a teenager with a principle they've not properly thought through have come to teach all of us oldies the error of our womanly ways.

I agree with PP that it will go after the school holidays

Flytrap01 · 17/04/2025 19:10

i guess it could be worse, they could use Ai instead to post ?

Unitarily · 17/04/2025 19:27

Ahh school holidays! Yes makes sense.

I doubt the authenticity of absolutely every single thing that's posted on MN these days. I'd advocate for the same kind of tedious, difficult, long winded process that Reddit employs to get an account or a verified status as used by many other sites. Unfortunately, the timewasters have completely destroyed the integrity of this site.

MN is not doing enough on this front imho.

No it doesn't, I know it's a trope but it doesn't stand up to any scrutiny.

Do you think it's children, teachers? No child is choosing to make things up on here when they have so many other online options. Id take any child doing that for medical assessment straight away 😁

Your right I don’t know the supposed mechanism, but have seen the trope. Hadn’t put two and two together that it was holidays.

I originally wondered if it was due to the ruling. It seems quite reddit-esque, non-mum, non-woman in certain threads.

I’ve thought the same. This doesn’t feel like the school holiday crowd.
The post with the woman travelling alone with her child has attracted weirdo (I’ve reported).

mumsnet feels quite unsafe right now. Are we still having the night watch or are we having more?

Good point. As I remember, it was still the Night Watch on duty overnight and MNHQ have gone silent on the question of professional, paid for, overnight moderation. Weekends at night have often been times when trolls try to cause trouble and the Night Watch do their best but can only work within their given, limited powers. Fasten your seat belts, I guess, as we're now in a bank holiday weekend.
