To think that this would work to be able to keep DD’s number.

Hello, i recently got a new contract which came with a phone and sim. I want to give the sim to my dd, as her contract is running out. However her current sim is the same network, and customer service says you cannot transfer numbers internally. So would it work if i got a PAYG which is a different network, transfered Dds number to that sim, then transfer it back to the new sim that i got with my new contract

We had to do that once. It did work

You can definitely transfer numbers within the same provider. I’ve just done it with Vodafone. They even did it while we were on a call with them. I would phone back and speak to someone else. There maybe some timing restrictions depending on the contract but definitely possible.

We have transferred a number to a PAYG in the past and then to the new SIM.

I'm sure EE can't port a number within the same provider. It might be different with Vodafone or other providers

I haven't been able to do this with Three. They keep saying that they are waiting to get a system update.

Three are awful. I am slowly moving our contracts to other providers as they xome to an end.

It can be done. We did with EE in November. Not straightforward but possible
