Acne in mid 30s+, very frustrating, anyone else?

They're only small yellowheads but I have around 20 of them. Loads on the forehead and chin mainly, with a couple in other areas but mainly chin and forehead.

I don't drink at all, my diet is not the best however, a lot of sugar. I'm a healthy weight, wondering if it's the diet?
I use a glycolic acid toner on my face, moisturiser and I put sudocrem on my spots. Nothing complicated, but the spots are really getting me down, I'm finding new ones by the day.

I had it in my mid 20s then it improved, now has come back in the last year. Anyone else?

I went to a skin doctor, who started me on a 3 month treatment as I had issues with dark spots and acne. Also i have very sensitive skin, so I don't use anything acidic on my face. My skin looks and feels so much clearer now.

That's good to hear it improved for you. I probably do need to speak to someone, it's all just money atm.

Try salicylic acid? And niacidamide. They both help keep spots clear.

I used skin and me - they tailor a prescription cream and send it monthly. I think it’s around £25 a month although usually the first month is cheaper. I used it for approx 5 months, my skin has been clear since. I was sceptical but it does actually work.

I've had acne since the age of 12 😶

No sign of it disappearing any time soon either.

Try salicylic acid cleanser, cerave do a good one and niacinamide serum (primark sell one). Cleanse twice a day and serum in the morning. Use a moisturiser and spf too.

Thanks.
I'll try the primark one, I use moisturiser and spf every day. Just not in a position to be forking out for more subscriptions to get rid of spots, I'm fed up of everything having to cost money.

Sudocream is probably blocking pores and causing yellow heads

Try freederm gel.

Honeybee0928 · 16/04/2025 22:46

I recommend supplements starflower oil and zinc. Do your own research but it worked for my adult acne.

StarTwirl · 16/04/2025 22:54

It’s the suducream

stop using it

move away from the Sudocream

throw it in the bin

StarTwirl · 16/04/2025 22:55

sugar doesn’t help

but if it doesn’t improve get some medication from your GP

Imgonnapopsometags · 16/04/2025 22:58

Thank you
I read somewhere Sudocrem helps spots but maybe not!

I do need to speak to the GP, hopefully they'll have something.

The GP will want to put you on the contraceptive pill (if not already) that’s why I turned down the more natural route. In my experience topical creams made zero difference
