Anyone else had their company head share their thoughts on today’s ruling? Just spotted our MD has shared some waffle about the ruling and how it means that trans women may be excluded now. It’s all be kind and inclusive etc etc messaging - not one thought for the women reading whose reaction to the news was ‘thank Christ for that’ AIBU to think such communications are tone deaf and out of sync with sensible folk?

I am pleased with the judgment and he sounds horribly unprofessional.

I think I’d be tempted to create an anonymous email account just to reply to this. ‘As one of your employees…’

Absolutely

Sounds like your MD is trying to offer some support to those who feel impacted by this, so I don’t know why they would need to “give a thought” to those who welcome the ruling. I’d rather have an MD that cares about their people, not all do believe me.

The ruling righted a wrong. The Md should think have my female employees been wronged? Have we silenced their legitimate concerns? And reached out to them.

Yup!

Bobbins from mine so far - and they officially state that a trans person can use whatever changing room they like. I'm giving them till Monday before I point out they are acting illegally by failing to provide single sex changing facilities & toilets for staff.

Check your employer's policies and email them!

Quoting the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992.

Also, Sex Matters has a useful document "Briefing for employers: Workplace toilets for women and men'.

I wonder if your employer is my employer! I have been making gentle noises about this for a while now and will be ramping those up next week.

From Anya Palmer (employment barrister):

If your employer is sending memos of concern for trans staff, raise a grievance. Refer them to Forstater v CGD. Tell them you think it is discriminatory for them to prioritise the concerns of trans people in this way.

They should be getting up to speed with interim guidance and legal implications rather than emotive emails that belong in pre SC time.
