To think that newborn babies are just perfect?

Why are they so bloody lovely?! If money was no object I’m not sure I’d ever stop wanting another baby. Does anyone else feel like this?

Mine definitely were. But I’ve never met a baby I didn’t adore the look of. I’m awful at having babies, it’s a miracle we have any, but if I was better at it and had been able to have more I’d have had loads. I’d do the first 6 months over and over again.

BlondeMummyto1 · 15/04/2025 23:14

Yes but I’m very broody atm.

CaptainCabinets · 15/04/2025 23:15

I didn’t sleep for the first week of DS’ life, not because he kept waking up, but because I just couldn’t take my eyes off him 🤣

He’s 4mo now and the joy just keeps growing. I won’t be having any more, though!

ShowDownTime · 15/04/2025 23:16

Oh yes. I think holding your newborn that first night alone just the two of you is the closest thing to God a person can experience. It’s a total miracle. I could do the first three months on a loop for ever.

Pyjamatimenow · 15/04/2025 23:19

I loved my own but I have zero interest in them otherwise and I definitely don’t want any more. Mine were both high- needs types though and didn’t sleep through until they were about 3 so that’s probably coloured my view

QuickPeachPoet · 15/04/2025 23:20

My friend’s baby looked very much like a potato at birth (her words not mine) and he screamed for the first 6 months of life. Don’t think she shared the sentiment 🤣🤣
He’s a great lad now though.

PluckyBamboo · 15/04/2025 23:21

Other people's look weird and squishy headed, I don't get the attraction 😳😆.

Mylegishangingoff · 15/04/2025 23:25

I adore newborn babies, I would have had many, many babies if I didn't have to look after them all the way to adulthood. Mine are 16 and 18 now so it feels like such a long time ago but it really was such a wonderful time in my life.

Stelmosfire1 · 15/04/2025 23:29

I’ve a midwife and often have moments of awe at the beautiful perfection of a newborn baby

JockyWilsonsaid · 15/04/2025 23:32

They smell weird and I was exhausted and weepy for weeks months. 6 weeks on, lush. Moments of velvety skin, gorgeous. 6 full on non stop weeks of misery, I can see the appeal of a wet nurse.

Sonolanona · 15/04/2025 23:35

Newborn babies are a miracle. They just are.
I watched my dgd being born 9 weeks ago, have four myself, and the wonder of it never leaves me...that a woman can grow and birth a fully formed human!
I still remember the first night with my own first born... just watching her sleep :)

TeenLifeMum · 15/04/2025 23:37

My perfect newborn just screamed at me for 4 months solid. Not a fan of newborns but toddlers up are fab, including teens - fascinating at teen age.

100%! The night shift midwife kept telling me I should get some sleep but I just couldn’t stop looking at baby DS!

I was thinking of this today
i like replaying it in my head and feeling that light fluffy magical feeling , sat in heaven with my baby

WineIsMyMainVice · 15/04/2025 23:40

I’m 52 this year and I will still go up to people with a baby and fawn over their babies! I absolutely love them all!!

CheeseAndHamToastieAndCrisps · 15/04/2025 23:42

I felt like I’d been hit by a train after birth and losing a ton of blood. I remember telling my friend how awful it was and I was never doing it again. Of course I did…

I love my babies but I sure as hell don’t want any more.

Aria2015 · 15/04/2025 23:43

Yes, those first 6-8 weeks before they beef out into a more chunky and robust baby is such a special time. All the sleepy cuddles, just watching them sleep and twitch. Their tiny hands and feet and their little cry. I can always tell a newborn just from the cry. They just sound 'new'! Their smell and how scrunched up they are. Love it! Love it!

MferMonsterSearchingForRedemption · 15/04/2025 23:44

I adore newborns.

My 5th baby was a nightmare and cried all the time. I could never put her down and she was just exhausting. However, with the other four, I completely adored the newborn stage.

I'm looking forward to being blessed with another grandchild one day. It's just as magical when you hold your newborn grandchild in your arms.

CozyCoupe · 15/04/2025 23:44

Oh yes I totally get it.

Trouble is they grow up 😆.

BlondiePortz · 15/04/2025 23:55

No because having a baby shouldnt be a hobby

Franjipanl8r · 16/04/2025 00:03

I prefer older children to babies. I obviously loved mine when they were babies but any time I see a baby or toddler now I think “thank god we’re not doing that anymore”.

user1492757084 · 16/04/2025 00:07

They are all darling.

mrsfollowill · 16/04/2025 00:12

Aww a friend of mine gave birth this morning! I'm a bit envious of the lovely cuddles but equally glad I can potter off to bed now with zero chance of being woken up! (adult child I'm old) Grin Couldn't take my eyes off my newborn and stared in wonder at him for the first night 😍
