Child tonsils & adenoids removal

Hi Everyone

my little one has just had tonsils/adenoids removed. This was Tuesday and today is Friday, doing well I’d say, but I’m so anxious during the recovery. I just want it all be behind him.

is it true they get worse before they get better? X

They often get worse for a few days due to not eating proper food.
Giving only soft food means the tonsil area isn't having any sloughy tissue removed by swallowing normal food, so it isn't great for healing to give only soft or liquid food.

Hopefully your DC is eating well and will be 100% again soon (In fact they'll be better than they've been for years without the complications that come with tonsillitis and snoring etc !)

My DD age 14 had hers out two months ago. It was really bad for two weeks. She’s fine now. They MUST keep eating as normal.

What you're giving him sounds perfect, and I'm sure he'll be bouncing around like normal very soon.

If I remember correctly it’s day 7/8/9 when the scab starts to come away. Just keep on top of the pain med recommendations for the full recommended period even if they seem better
