To pursue money apologetically?

Title meant to say UNAPOLOGETICALLY!

I feel like there’s a lot of judgement around openly wanting to make as much money as possible. People act like it’s greedy or shallow but isn’t financial security and success something worth going after? Why should anyone feel bad for prioritising wealth?

Come and live in London, everyone is unapologetically chasing the big bucks.

There’s a difference between wanting to prioritise financial security and pursuing wealth to the exclusion of everything else.

I think it depends. If you want to create financial security by working hard in a less fulfilling job and make those sacrifices yourself then that is fine. If you are unapologetically going after rich partners to provide you with financial security when it isn’t something you are working to yourself then that is pretty low.

I think it entirely depends on the industry you work in. I’m in financial services and nobody is apologetic about why we’re here: we work hard, we put in the hours for the success of the company, and in return we expect to see that reflected in pay and bonuses. It’s just straightforward and transactional, as work should be.

I worked in the charitable sector for some time in my early career and the odd, slightly cultish undertone that you were supposed to pretend you worked out of the goodness of your heart and be coy about your earnings and never try to negotiate pay always felt bizarre and manipulative.

Im not remotely rich, but I admire the more determined amongst us who want the best things in life. Work hard. Play hard. They deserve the rewards
The ones I have a problem with are those who make it big via more illegal means but that’s just my opinion tbh.
