Read about it today. Very concerning

It sounds like a good idea to me…

I always wondered when this would happen. The novella that the film is based on was written by Philip K Dick in 1956.
I expect the UK isn't the only government that is using algorithms to predict behaviour.
Probably not using telepaths and precogs just yet, though (although there was that remote viewing stuff in the US)

This is why people who give their DNA to ancestry websites are stupid. Information will start to be used by insurance companies too to determine health issues. Scary stuff, but inevitable

I wouldn’t worry about it. Actual murderers, plus rapists and other criminals get away with minimum sentences, the UK justice system hasn’t the time to deal with something that might happen.

🤣 so true! Alternatively the program will end up arresting all the police and politicians first

It always felt inevitable after all, the film is based on a novella written by Philip K. Dick back in 1956. It’s hard to believe the UK is alone here; governments worldwide are already using data-driven algorithms to predict behaviour, just without the telepaths and precogs of Minority Report. That said, with advances in AI, surveillance, and predictive analytics, reality is edging uncomfortably close to Dick’s fiction remote viewing aside.
