Party Alcohol Recommendations.

Hi, I’m planning a party soon and would really appreciate some recommendations for drinks. There’ll be around 30 people coming, a mix of men and women aged 40 to 55. Some are big drinkers, others are more moderate.
I’m looking for a prosecco and wine I can buy in bulk, ideally under £8 a bottle, and without a harsh aftertaste. I've heard Aldi and Lidl are good.

Would also love any beer suggestions and easy cocktail recipes that work well for a group. Thanks.

Aldi prosecco is DOC and around £5 a bottle
Tesco and morrisons have 25% off when you buy 6
Have a great night!

I would look up the BBC Saturday Kitchen site for wine/sparkling wine recommendations and consider a Spanish Cava as opposed to Prosecco. There might be some cocktail tips there, too.
Probably estimate 0.5 to 0.75 bottles per head (to account for the heavy/light drinkers), plus soft drinks, mineral water etc.
Will you be serving food as well?

Get a keg or half keg of beer from your local brewery, ring them to enquire.

We drink lots of cocktails at home, if you're not used to doing them I wouldn't attempt it for that many - people won't expect them anyway, they'll be happy with wine and beer.

Try somewhere like Laithwaite's to buy excellent wine in boxes of 12-15 bottles, I usually come in around £8.50 per bottle including delivery. It'll be MUCH nicer wine than you'd get in the supermarket for that price tag. Ring them and chat with a wine guide, ask for their suggestions and ask them to ring you back in a few days when you've had a think.

Will you be serving any nibbles? Easiest: posh crisps, homemade dips (salsa, guacamole, hummus) made in bulk, posh nuts.
