To be mad at DH

We were out this morning with the kids when my husband asked me for the time - he was wearing a watch and had his phone with him. Just "easier" to ask me. I pointed out that this is a constant issue and he just laughed. It's the same with school events etc - he gets all the same notications from the school as I do, but can plan nothing. AIBU to be annoyed?

Just keep responding ‘I don’t know’. Surely it’s obvious how to deal with it??

Topseyt123 · 06/04/2025 16:35

Just say "I don't know, what does your watch/phone say?"

Hairoftherabbitnotdog · 06/04/2025 16:37

@Justwhy2i get this too from my dh. I just reply 'I don't know' in a vague way, rather than an abrupt 'and blunt tone.
It's draining.

"I'm not sure, why don't you check?"

Surely that's all you need to say? 😮

I arrived home on Friday afternoon to the sight of DH walking down the street, clutching carrier bags, and clearly on his way out to the supermarket. He was also in the middle of texting and didn't notice me.

As I parked the car, I got a text. It was DH asking me whether we needed any milk, bread, potatoes or indeed any other groceries. It obviously hadn't occurred to him to check for himself and make a shopping list before setting off. Oh no.

Confused

YABU because every time you answer you enable his behaviour.

A simple ‘you’re wearing a watch, it’s right there’ will do.

Ponderingwindow · 06/04/2025 16:49

i just keep telling DH, “I’m not your secretary”
his response is that he just thought I might know off the top of my head. I tell him it doesn’t matter. Keeping track of all the details is exhausting. Asking me to spend time thinking about it when he has a phone in his pocket that will give him the answer just as quickly is unfair.

When he says 'What's the time?', just reply 'Time you learned to read your watch'. Every time.
