To feel like you need something more from life

I always feel like I'm waiting for something to happen. Not sure if it's anxiety or due to boredom. I have this constant unsettled feeling, like an itch you need to scratch. Can't quite put my finger on it. I feel like there's something missing or I need more stimulation/excitement in life. Can anyone relate?

Yes definitely.. I'm either waiting for something exciting
. Or anxious waiting for something bad .
When I've got a flight and/ or holiday booked l feel excited and that's a good thing.
Then I'm anxious something will go wrong.

Yes, I always feel the need to have holidays and trips away booked for the future so I have something to look forward to, but unless they are in the next week or so it doesn't help get rid of that 'needing something' feeling.

Luckily l go away often..
But I've been away a few times when things back home haven't been so good
.. one of Grandchildren or daughter been ill/ in hospital.... one time l got burgled...
Anyhow at end of month I'm away with Grandson and daughter in a cottage on a farm.
And just booked for Cyprus in May.
Need to go when l can.
Waiting for a new hip.
When l think about that. .. I'm thinking what will go wrong.
Imagining the worse before it even happens..
But l do get that feeling of something within the world going wrong.. think it started with Covid and now we just want as much wonderful things out of life as we can achieve.

I have this and tbh I think it’s a touch of depression. I sort of think “is that all there is?”
I think it’s worse when I’m feeling a lack of connection with others but not sure the cause and effect there!
if you work out how to get rid of it let me know I’ve thought about quitting my job, moving house etc just to get rid of the feeling!

You literally could be me. I’m so glad I’m not the only one

This sums up my thoughts too!

I've wondered if it might be depression. I also want to change my job and move house, but wonder if I did if these feelings would just follow me.

Have you read anything about mindfulness and meditation? It's a good thing to practice, it grounds you and is geared towards learning techniques to help you live in the moment. We are bombarded with messages and images on social media which are designed to make us feel dissatisfied with our lives. Practicing gratitude and mindfulness counteracts this.

No. I'll have to look into it.

I feel like this too but I have an anxiety disorder which prevents me from actually changing anything because I’m too scared to rock the boat. I feel like I just exist, I’m not living a life.
