To think next day delivery means within 24hrs?

I ordered something at 9pm last night for Evri parcel shop next day delivery. The cut off was 11pm. I was expecting to get it today.

Apparently though, it means 24hrs once dispatched. The company have said they'll send it today. With the weekend I'll get it on Monday.

Not a big deal, it just means I'll need to go shopping today which I'd rather not and then post the item back because I won't need it (too late to cancel it).

We don't tend to have any more issues with Evri than any other courier.

YANBU - I'd have expected delivery within 24hrs of ordering
YABU - Obviously they can't get an order at 9pm, dispatch and deliver it to you the next day.

I’d have expected it today too - is it in their small print somewhere though?

If they have a cut off to receive next day as 11pm, then yes I would expect to receive it today too. That is not next day.

Email from Evri states expected delivery is actually Tuesday now but I'm pretty sure the parcel shop is closed on a Tuesday.

I ordered more than I'd planned to, to get free "next day delivery" (I ordered stuff I'd need anyway in the next month or so) but... I got an email from the company saying the actual item I wanted is out if stock! 😂

I guess at least I won't need to return anything now as all the stuff now being delivered will be used eventually. 🤣

Obviously, they took the payment immediately but it will take them a week to refund it.

Companies atm I don’t know what is going on … I ordered a tv from Very on Tuesday to arrive next Tuesday as it was the day that someone would be at my sons flat to accept it ... got an email on Wednesday to say it’s been dispatched and the delivery company will deliver it on Thursday 🤬🤬 NO I don’t WANT it on Thursday .
Then same day the electric engineer turned up to fit my new smart meter even though I had 3 msgs to say it would be FRIDAY not on WEDNESDAY !! I was out and had to rush home .

Do companies think you just have time to wait about for them for days . They must assume the whole world now works from home ..

How strange. We got a new TV from Very a few months and exactly the same thing happened to us!

If it said next day delivery, that's what I would expect. Not necessarily within exactly 24 hours- I'd allow the whole of the next day (until evening) but would definitely expect it the next day.

On the few occasions it hasn't arrived next day, depending on the urgency of my requirement, I'd just return it/make a complaint.
