Seriously wondering if I can continue in this job. The additional things we have to deal with regarding customers (and their dogs..). All common sense seems to disappear when entering our store!
In the past month, I’ve dealt with the following;
1, trio of old ladies making a bee line to stock, one walks over tines on the pallet truck. Have to put my arms out to prevent the domino effect of crumpled pile of old ladies.
2, reunited lost and crying toddler to mildly alarmed parent, a football pitch distance away who exclaimed ‘well, you ran off’…
3, car park - CF customer parked took toddler into the town. Handbrake not on, vehicle backed down the slight slope blocking the entrance. Put cones around waiting for return, thinking she’d come in and apologise? Nope, just ran over cones squashing them!
4, old lady takes off with the basket holder. Might have thought it was a walker tbf, gently asked her to return.
5, regularly steering customers out of the delivery yard, unauthorised area. As well as one old dear with her walker who likes to use the lorry turning area to ‘get her steps in’…
6, the thieving, toilet messes, vomit (in the soft play) as well as dog poo bags hidden in stock, blatant dog poo and vomit in outside area with no notification, first world meltdowns of NOT stocking an item ‘I thought you of all people would have it’ is all par for the course BUT please spare a thought for overstretched staff who are just trying to do their job without the additional stress! We try to keep a sense of humour and thankfully the team is great, but, honestly, every shift, I go in thinking, ‘what’s on the menu today’…
Just have to accept as normal I guess?
