Standing on the flowerbeds!!

Went to the park yesterday with 2 DC , nice big park lots of well looked after flower beds. They both went off for a run around, I told them to make sure they go around the flower beds and not through any of them.
Youngest had to be reminded a good few times as he looked very tempted to have a run on them!

Then, after 30 mins making sure my little kids didn’t run on the flower beds, on the way back to the car there was a family 6, 4 adults 2 kids all standing bang in the middle of a flower bed doing a photo shoot 😂

You know when you just feel exasperated. My kids were just looking at me like I was the one who’d lost the plot for continually telling them when these adults were all just stood on the flowers.

Yanbu. I remember feeling like this A LOT when DS was young and I was trying to teach him how to behave. If memory serves ( it was years ago) I think I jjust used to sigh inwardly and explain in very simple terms that those children were still doing something wrong and maybe their mums and dads hadn’t told them it was wrong so they didn’t know. Or something like that. Obviously only works if the mum/dad isn’t there doing the thing as well!
I used to get very pissed off when people wouldn’t wait for the Green Man at crossings, and would dart across when I was trying to teach DS how IMPORTANT it was to WAIT. And how DANGEROUS it was to run out before the man was Green 🤣
i know we all do it, and i couldn’t expect everyone to just stand there when it was clearly safe for them as adults to cross, but i did get quite funny about it

@Pandimoanymum Funnily enough the other day, while waiting to cross the road in a strange city, DH was telling me about a thread he had been following on a forum he reads. This was about "the things we do because we are decent human beings". One of the things mentioned was waiting for the green man at a pedestrian crossing if there is also an adult waiting with a small child.

I remember telling my son to walk quietly along the corridor in a hotel because people maybe sleeping only to be awoken the next morning around 6am to some children running along the corridor outside the room. Arhhh

YANBU. I felt the same when I told my son off for scaring and chasing the pigeons, but then 5 minutes later, some other kid would start doing it while their parents looked on and said nothing.

And I am also one who won't cross the road until the green man shows if there's a parent with a child at the crossing, and I don't have mine with me.

People are idiots. Our local park has deer roaming freely. There are numerous signs telling people to stay well away from them. Well, you’ve guessed it, they don’t. Parents with small children go right up to them to get selfies, on a regular basis.

Ha ha, my 3yo DC sees people and says "that's naughty" 😆 it's particularly funny when they are being CF parking parents and I just look and say "yes" 😆 Shamed by a 3 yo 😆

Yes! Because of how I used to feel when DS was little, I still always wait for the green man if there are people with little kids, i've done it ever since.
