Marks and Spencer gifts

I've just sent a gift to someone who is in hospital (sent to her home) and there was no option to add a message or say who the gift is from.

I've just spent over 20 minutes waiting to talk to customer services in M & S and they confirmed this.

How can they call this a gift service?

There is a section for a message on the gifts I send from M&S, you scroll down a little and it's before the " add to bag " button.

I added a message in the afternoon tea i sent yesterday although had an issue with dpd delivering it to a bin but they did refund it via the chat but it was not a quick process!

Read my opening post. I phoned M & S and they have confirmed that not all gifts have a message option.

What was the gift?

Needmorelego · 31/03/2025 10:28

Don't use them again then.
Problem solved.
(Me - I would have messaged the person personally with something to like "there's a parcel coming to you soon from me....hope you enjoy it...xx").

'Not all' doesn't mean this isn't helpful navigation for someone. And just because they told you some gifts don't have this option doesn't mean you didn't miss it on the thing you bought. Just message the recipient like a normal person instead of telling other people to read your drivel.

There really is no need for such a snippy reply to someone who was just trying to help.

Just to point out, not once did your "Opening Post" state that not all gifts have a message option. Your OP reads as if it's not done at all.

Surely it depends, I mean if you were to send somebody some toilet roll and half a pound of butter because they love proper loo roll and real butter there will be no option to send a gift message?

But send flowers and there will be?

TokyoSushi · 31/03/2025 10:44

What's the gift? if it's something like flowers then there should be an option, a jumper perhaps, less so...

Ecocool · 31/03/2025 10:47

The gift was the Calm Wellness collection item no 20455408
