To find this a bit funny?

Just had a weird interaction with DH. I told my DS 11 that I was going for a lie down.. he asked me why and i answered.. because I’ve got terrible period pains. DH goes don’t tell him that! I said why?? He knows what periods are, he has a sister and a mother and why shouldn’t he know that periods are horrible and painful sometimes! I found it funny and a bit weird!

That is weird. Have you asked DH what he meant?

Of course he should know.. he's 11.. if he was female he definitely would know. Sex education covers everything.. my Grandsons knew earlier.. my ex husband was very weired about periods.. he would hide my tampons under the bread in the supermarket trolley.. my Dad had five daughters and had no trouble on periods.

I did.. he couldn’t really say! He just thinks it’s not something I need to broadcast.. I told him to stop being weird!

That’s what I mean! He does know all about it. I’m very open and he knows from school and his sister isn’t shy about telling him! It was weird just like he said and then didn’t really know why?!

Yeah, I wouldn't be impressed with my DH perpetuating the old ideas about periods being dirty or shameful and something to keep secret.

Thinking like this is not only why women's healthcare is so terrible, but also why many women don't seek help when they need it.

Periods and menopause and all they both encompass are a part of life. There's no shame in it and it should be openly discussed.

It’s that deep seated Victorian style reaction. Good for you OP, we need our future men to be better at this stuff.
