Tested positive but came on period?

I am a week late and 4 pregnancy tests have tested positive. However today I came on my period and it was just the same as any other of my periods, no blood clots. This makes me think it was a period rather than a miscarriage.

But what could be happening if I am testing positive? What has happened to the pregnancy? If anyone has any insight on what is happening or has experienced similar I would really appreciate it.

At a week a “normal” period could well be a very early miscarriage. Before the days of early testing I’m pretty sure many people had early pregnancies that just didn’t develop and a “late period” or a very early miscarriage.

I had this unfortunately in early 2023. I got my period the day I expected it to come. Thought nothing of it, disappointed but said we'll try again. 4 days later ,- I just felt weird , can't explain. Took a digital and it said pregnant. I was baffled as my period was normal. Got hcg bloods done in doc, they were very low but confirmed pregnancy. They doubled but Unfortunately they dropped again a few days later. And I miscarried unfortunately. It was labelled a chemical pregnancy which is a very early loss. Hopefully yours is different.

Unfortunately it’s likely a chemical pregnancy. I’d advise to wait until your period has finished then retest a few days later.

I am hoping it is a chemical pregnancy as I took precautions to not get pregnant but have been testing positive.
