To be utterly fed up with 6yo and lying!

I have a 6 and a half year old who tells me lies seemingly all the time! It is driving me mad!
They have some impulsive behaviours (currently on the assessment trail for ADHD) but whenever we try to discuss the what’s and whys, DC just lies.

This morning DC was casually dismantling elder DC’s Harry Potter Lego, when asked to stop they said it was theirs and maintained this for the hour before I left them at school. It’s not theirs!

Yesterday they helped themselves to the younger DCs fruit pouches as a snack, we have snack food in a cupboard that the DC can eat whenever, the fruit pouches are not in the same place and DC knows they are for younger DC… fruit pouches left of the table at DCs usual seat - DC denies all knowledge, pretends to not know what a fruit pouch is…

They’ve lost a welly at school again, lost property is a regular thing for us, but now DC says it’s not lost, it’s stolen by xxx child from a different class. Class teacher assures me xxx has no access to the p2 classroom/cloakroom and I have no doubt the welly will turn up. But DC maintains xxx has stolen it.

I know it’s a phase but man, it’s awful!

I remember that phase well! Lean into it, and don't make it a power struggle over if it's a lie or not, it's too exhausting! It's obviously a lie. Call out the lie and then out lie/fantastic story them

"Mum, Jimmy stole my welly"
"Mrs teacher told me that's not true and that you've lost it....Why do you think Jimmy would want one of your wellies? Why not both? Do you think he's making an army of swamp monsters that only have one foot? Have any other kids wellies gone missing? Why do you think he needs an army of swamp monsters? Maybe they're going to take over the school and make all the teachers roll in the mud."
