AIBU - there’s no timeline. Absolutely none.

So it could take 6 days, 6 months or 6 years.

im waiting for a mandatory reconsideration and wondered if anyone had endured one recently and how long it took?

About 5 months. It went in my favour and was backdated to the date of application but it was a long wait . Good luck

Oh wow. Ok that’s a long long time.

The frustrating thing is, I can’t log childcare as we currently have no claim for me to do so.

So wouldn’t get that back paid.

im flying by the seat of my pants

6 months for me. That’s was after a LOT of nagging on my journal. I eventually spoke with my self employment coach and happened to mention how depressed DH was about our money situation and somehow she managed to speed the process up.
Took a couple of months after the decision to get the recalculation.
Absolute farce.
My advice would be to just continue to chase it up in your journal.

You can appeal and start a new claim while you are waiting for the MR.
The MR is just to decide if your claim was closed incorrectly. If so, they’ll give you any money owed for the month they closed it. If not, they won’t.
But you can start again in the meantime and claim your childcare for the current month.

We’ve been waiting nearly 5 months for a MR for housing benefit for a family member. They take over two weeks to answer any query and can take as long as they like it would seem to get round to an MR.
Surely a single mum on UC with no savings is entitled to housing benefit. I don’t understand why they are dragging it out like this. The stress is horrendous.

This is where it gets complicated.

i changed the claim incorrectly.

So had to re-claim.

It’s the new claim they have turned down (previous decision maker allowed our initial claim to go through within days as circumstances changed within and already open claim).

Just updating in case anyone searches in the same boat.

It was sorted last week so about 4 weeks after.
