I think someone’s carbon monoxide alarm is going off.

I live in a big block and opposite a big block and I can hear 4 beeps, 3 second pause and then 4 beeps non stop.

Google is telling me is a carbon monoxide alarm. I’ve just tested mine and it’s not mine also it’s not as loud as mine.

I think it’s in the opposite block. I don’t know what I should do. I was happy that’s it’s not mine but now I can’t just go to sleep thinking that someone else is suffocating.

Do you know anyone in the other block?

IMissSparkling · 25/03/2025 23:31

I would imagine they're out, rather than suffocating.

Go and knock on their door, check if you can see anything concerning.

No. Live in London and don’t really speak to my neighbours let alone people in the other block. I’m hoping that someone else can hear it because it is really annoying and I’m not even near it. It should hopefully get someone else’s attention

Good thinking that they are out.

Some battery operated CO alarms and also smoke alarms do that when the battery is low to prompt you to change the battery.

Normally the battery ones do it maybe every 30 seconds and it’s a one off whistle sound. I’ve had that when my battery died on my fire alarm. I’m hoping that they are out or they have left the flat already as I did hear people talking when I looked out the window.
