To ask about your most regrettable/awkward/embarrassing “overheards”…?

I “co-parent” with the father of my two children…the eldest came to me with a less than ideal anecdote about her Dad the other day. I listened and acknowledged and gave relevant advice.

Once she’d left the room, I clocked myself muttering, “of course he did that…arrogant piece of shit that he is!”

It got me thinking about those moments when you’re glad no one overheard/cringing that someone did 🙈

Or is it just me…? 🤪😉😂

Well mine was secondhand embarrassment from what DS was doing, that was definitely overheard 😂

Sitting on a packed train, DS must have been about 2. For context I’m white, DS is mixed race but often people assume he’s just really tanned.

DS (pointing to a white woman): that person is white! I like white. (I try and shhh him, he’s having none of it)

DS points to black woman: ‘she’s black! I don’t like black. I hate black!’ 🫠

So I’m mortified and try and somehow have a race conversation on the train in front of many curious (and some outright annoyed) passengers. But he’s having none of it. Every time I think he’s distracted by something else he points at her again and says ‘I don’t like black!’ 20 minutes later, he points at another woman and says ‘oh, she’s blue, I like blue.’ Reader, he was talking about the colour of their coats, not skin tone 🫠 I spent the next hour avoiding eye contact with everyone and wishing the floor would open up and swallow me.
