I’m really poorly at the moment. As in. “Can’t get out of bed I’m experiencing and getting through flu” type of poorly.

but I feel such guilt for calling in sick to work. I just feel as though I’m doing something wrong and everyone will hate me. Attendance is already not so great in the team and they’ll think I’m one of those who just goes off sick too and I’m not but my body can’t even stay stood up for longer than 5 mins without needing reprieve.

help?

If you're sick, you're sick. Remember you are just a number. If you left you'd be replaced in a heartbeat, and it would be "Melony who?"

Hope you feel better soon.

How often do you have sick leave though? You sound to me like the person in the team who's always there! I know where I work that there's some people who, if they call in sick, you know they're really poorly. You are also not responsible for the attendance across the team - you need to rest to recover.

I started in December and not had a sick day since I’m just really not able to push through it this time. Normally I can keep going but standing up is a task right now

Your health is important, look after yourself.
If you dragged yourself into work you would be sharing all your germs with your workmates, so you are doing them a favour staying at home.

Get well soon.

If you're really that poorly then of course you should stay home. Look after yourself or you'll be unwell for longer. You don't need to push through right now - calling in sick is perfectly valid. Are you able to send an email tonight? Where I work, I can email them in the middle of the night if I'm unwell so I don't have to think about it in the morning and can just stay asleep!

Nobody will thank you taking bugs into work.

Rest up and return when you feel well enough to.

SolarSaviour · 24/03/2025 01:24

Drink lots of water

Drink milk if you can

Oranges for vitamin C

Soup

Rest, relax, get better

I’ve always tried to push through with illnesses. I’ve had a bit of an eye opener of late though. We had a colleague very sadly and suddenly pass away, her job was being advertised within the week. lots of things are more important than work… get better soon

Eenameenadeeka · 24/03/2025 01:38

When you feel that unwell, you absolutely need to call in sick. You need to rest to recover, and you don't want to pass it on either. Hope you feel better soon!

I suffer with anxiety so it just leaves me in worry about what others think.

I don’t think not having a sick day since December is particularly notable but if you’re ill, you’re ill. Nothing to be done about it so no need for guilt.

@Melony17 are you the poster who was sick on a school trip? Surely they know you are sick.
