Advice on what this could be? (GYNAECOLOGY)

First of all, I hope this is allowed as I’m aware that it’s the wrong board but the health boards don’t tend to get much traffic.

Heavy bleeding after sex (sort of like the first couple of days of a period), pain when inserting and taking out tampons (usually absolutely fine with them), periods changing - heavier and longer and more painful. It’s been going on a few months now but getting worse. All up to date with smears.

Been to the GP, had an ultrasound (internal) and nothing was found. Now been given an urgent appointment at the hospital but looking for some advice, or other people’s experiences on what this could be please?

Ectropian? When you say you’re up to date with your smears, when did you have your last? It could be 2.5 since…

You need internal examination with a speculum to check the vagina/cervix to check for ectropion or cervical polyp (ultrasound is not effective at checking these and looks more at the uterus). And smear test

Have you been referred for a Hystoscopy? If so … get the anasthetic, don’t let them do it in outpatients. No prizes for bravery.

I had one last week, and a biopsy, under a general (post menopausal bleeding)

Are your periods painful? Could possibly be endometriosis, it doesn’t show up on scans and I had similar symptoms myself before being diagnosed after a laparoscopy, hope it all gets sorted for you soon x

I've got cervical ectropian from a previous cervix treatment for CIN1 cells. I get the bleeding after sex sometimes. I'm waiting to see gynae. I had an ultrasound that said I have fibroids and adenomyosis also.
Have you ever had treatment on your cervix? That could be a cause but like previous poster said could be endometriosis. Good luck getting some answers. 💐

I really think it depends. At my local hospital, the waiting time for GA was months whereas I was able to get a hysteroscopy without sedation within days. It is painful, but with Cocodamol it is manageable.

So check with your hospital and try and go for whatever will get you an earlier diagnosis.
