Low calorie meal ideas

pollypoxx · 23/03/2025 20:43

Trying to do a calorie deficit (again) as from tomorrow at 1600 per day.

Could anyone recommend any easy, low calorie meal ideas? Particularly lunches and breakfasts. Has to be relatively convenient due to work. I like most things, salads and sandwiches are my usual go-tos.

Thank you

I’m trying to stick to closer to 1,200 right now and on Sunday I roast a chicken crown and lots
of Mediterranean veg, then have some of that with hummus as my lunch, easy, yummy and low calorie. This usually lasts me 4 days worth of lunches.

Bolognese is a great dinner but with courgette slices instead of pasta

Tabbouleh is really low in calories (I replace some of the olive oil with more lemon juice). We had it today with greek seasoned chicken breast and it was lovely. Really filling too. Burger wheat is very low in cals and apart from the olive oil, everything else is super low in calories.

Type it into chat gpt! It's great for this sort of thing. E.g 'can you make a meal plan for the week, lunches and dinners, with each day having around 1600 calories'. Then ask it to make you a shopping list!

Stir fry.
Soup.
Jacket potatoes.
Salad.
Roast Veg and hummus.
Cous cous.
Overnight oats
Ramen noodle bowl.
omelette.

Grilled fry up (tomatoes, steamed mushrooms, beans, egg, tomatoes. Skip the meat and bread)

I recommend eggs for breakfast. High protein and low calorie, keeps away hunger until lunchtime.
I boil one or two and take it to work, to peel and eat at my convenience, or if I’m at home I like it scrambled.

For breakfast I’d do a bircher or overnight oats (make three days up and put in fridge).

Lunches McCain jacket potato cheese and beans, beans, cheese and tuna, small portion of bolognese or chilli, crustless quiche, omelette and salad if at home, dirty rice if at home or of can use a microwave at work

Dinners -,chilli or bol (add extra veggies and use lean beef, buy a book with meals under 500 calories.

Drink plenty of water, small handful of nuts or berries or carrots for snacks, or two x mini babybel light etc.

M and S do a packet of cubes of butternut squash and sweet potato. I put them in the oven and have with a bit of fish or a chicken breast. They're quite low calorie but feel like carbs because of the odd bit of sweet potato.

For me low carb works as I don’t have space for the calories from carbs, Greek yoghurt with apples, berries and seeds or nuts or if I can be bother omlette for breakfast. Lunch fresh veg soup with added chopped chicken breast but generally I have left overs from dinner.
