To expect a thank you?

Without being too outing, have recently done a huge amount of voluntary community work and raised a very substantial amount of money. It’s been an incredibly complex project bureaucratically and in terms of people management.
I’m not expecting an outpouring of gratitude, publicly or otherwise, but I’ve been taken aback by the level of ignorance and entitlement. Barely a thank you.
The logical part of my brain says just put it down to experience and relish in having achieved really difficult goal. But - I’m human! - a thank you or even an acknowledgment of the sheer effort it has taken would be appreciated.
I can’t get over the sense of entitlement !

all. A thank you from only two.
