Petty revenge suggestions

Preface: I have tried to go about this via all the right channels for months, I’ve reported it to my local council about 9 times and sent photos etc. any rational intervention we have tried (simply moving the bin) has resulted in vandalism and damage to residents cars.

Issue: Neighbour reserving/blocking a public road with their wheely bin for nearly 6 months. It’s not allowed as it’s not on their property, it’s on the road and blocking the road. They can be fined and asked to move it. Nothing has been done about it. I’ve given up with the council.

I am moving house…. So I don’t have to tolerate this anymore but I am dreaming of some kind of goodbye/fuck you. This has really affected us as we can’t park outside our own house for fear of having our car damaged.

I don’t want to do anything criminal that’s not what I’m suggesting. I also wouldn’t do anything on bin collection day that could cause an issue for the bin men

Family have suggested the following:
-hiding the bin somewhere on the estate
-kidnapping the bin
-gluing the bin to the road
-gluing the bin lid shut
-anti vandal paint on the handle
-covering it in sticky gloop/gelatine (that can be washed off but is inconvenient)
-filling it with something they have to empty like rocks

Or should I do the right (boring and sensible) thing and be the bigger person and let it go, and let this bully carry on bullying the next people who move in here

Can you fill it with concrete mix and water? Or at least the bottom third? Leave it open on a warm day.

moanafan · 23/03/2025 17:07

Glue the lid shut! Do it! What an absolute bellend. I would do all of the above in an appropriate order that ends with the bin being kidnapped on the final day before you move… start with gluing the lid for sure though, that made me laugh!! Would love some updates on how this goes and am glad for your sake that you are moving!

RechargeableGnu · 23/03/2025 17:07

Tempting...but just wave merrily goodbye knowing you don't have to put up with it any longer.

But maybe set up a regular case of alcohol to be delivered to their poor new neighbours?!

moanafan · 23/03/2025 17:08

Also leave a note to the next people to live in your property outlining the issue just to warn them … would be awful if they found out the hard way with vandalised cars. Can’t believe your neighbour goes to that extent! I remember one of your previous posts about this!

Ilovemyshed · 23/03/2025 17:24

Buy a cheap bean bag off ebay, cut it open and pour the beads in the bin 😂

Ilovemyshed · 23/03/2025 17:25

And add a few split bags of flour.

LlynTegid · 23/03/2025 17:31

Any evidence they take illegal drugs? Report them to the DVLA as unfit to drive.
Council not doing anything? If you have written evidence, and a complaint has been ignored, local government ombudsman.
Any evidence their children may have witnessed such behaviour? Social services or the school as a safeguarding issue.

In all cases you can say you have not pursued it whilst at the property for fear of repercussions.

I don't agree with the suggestions about cement or glue.

Specter17 · 23/03/2025 17:32

stick a sign on the bin saying free bin ?

Although would be expensive this. 😂

randomchap · 23/03/2025 17:38

A wheelie bin weighs about 15kg. You'll need about 1500 helium balloons to send it off on an adventure

On a more serious note, revenge is a dish best served cold. Leave it a few months and you'll not be suspected

Noshowlomo · 23/03/2025 17:39

You fill it up with something and then glue that lid shut!!! Amazing idea.
and move it when you get removal vans as well if it’s back

Good luck!

Yes get post crete it's a bag of powder, tip a few in bin and add water, sets in about an hr!!

eyeoflifehe · 23/03/2025 17:40

I think hiding the bin somewhere would be best, you wouldnt get in trouble for that

shellyleppard · 23/03/2025 17:42

Fill it with old fish 😂😂😂

MelainesLaugh · 23/03/2025 17:43

If you have their mobile number sign them up for all sorts of things too 😂

BlueSlate · 23/03/2025 17:43

Take the bin with you when you move.

Vanillalime · 23/03/2025 17:44

Glow in the dark spray paint & spray “bin wanker” on the side.

Or a mix of Vaseline, flour & glitter inside and out.

Or both!! 🤣

MrsMoastyToasty · 23/03/2025 17:47

Leave an open bag of chips on it and let the local seagull population leave their calling cards...

GoAwayNow7 · 23/03/2025 17:48

Glue it.

lnks · 23/03/2025 17:50

You would have to ensure they knew it was you. It would be crap if your neighbours experienced repercussions after you left.

ACynicalDad · 23/03/2025 17:52

Obstructing the highway is a police offence. Our neighbours were visited by the old Bill for this.

TheLizardQueen · 23/03/2025 18:12

Ilovemyshed · 23/03/2025 17:24

Buy a cheap bean bag off ebay, cut it open and pour the beads in the bin 😂

This is gold!!

AmusedOpalShaker · 23/03/2025 18:17

Of course you shouldn’t do the right and sensible thing, where’s the fun in that?

Fill it with shit (maybe not literal shite), and then use their mobile number and sign them up to a micro penis dating site.

I’ve never signed up an annoying male in my life to one of those, promise.

Have fun!

RockyRogue1001 · 23/03/2025 18:17

Some brilliant suggestions on here.

@User9loooool I remember your previous thread, I think.
What horrible neighbours.
I think the least goady suggestion is to hide the bin a couple of streets away.
But I like the "Bin Wanker" suggestion a lot!

Flossflower · 23/03/2025 18:18

If cars have been vandalised, I don’t know why you haven’t set up cameras.
A friend of mines neighbours constantly fought about parking. When one of them moved out they bought an old banger. They taxed and insured it and just left it parked on the road outside the other persons house.
After about a year, the council removed the car as it was no longer taxed or insured.
