Work men here and they making so many mistakes

I stupidly hired these people looking at reviews which were all 5* and raving comments on how amazing they were. They’ve painted my front door 2x now and first time I had to tell him myself to sand it down as the just painted over the peeling paint. The door looks okay but not perfect and they doing one more coat now. The wallpaper looks awful, the pattern not matching up and I told the guy it is opposite repeat as on the picture diagram on the packaging. He was huffing puffing abd looked angry but he’s re doing it. I’m a little scared as I’m alone in the house with them and my toddler. I’m so upset it looks awful. I just want them gone. Husband is saying don’t pay them but I don’t want a confrontation. I’m so annoyed at myself for letting them continue when I knew from first day it was shit. This is the 3rd day now. Funny thing is my neighbours are all asking for their details to get a quote for their homes!

what shall I do? Just pay and get rid of them today or keep pointing out the mistakes?

Tell them to stop.

Tell them you're not happy with the quality of their work. Say that you've made this clear to them - by pointing out the shoddy front door and their bad pattern matching - but they've continued to do poor quality work, and you don't want any more of it.

At this point, judging from your OP, I think you should just pay them for what they've done so far and tell them to leave. I agree with your husband that you shouldn't pay them but there's a risk it'll escalate and potentially get confrontational and it doesn't seem like you want that.

So, opt for the easiest route out - pay them and get rid of them. Then try to find someone decent with the knowledge that finding someone to finish off another tradesman's work is tough.

I think you have to pay if you’ve continued to take up their time after noticing the quality of the work. They should correct any mistakes and you’ll have to pay.
Or pay them up until this point and ask them to go but.. then you have half a job to complete, others might be reluctant to take it on.

Such a shame. Really disappointing when these things happen :( are the people their the owners, or is there anyone you could speak to about it?

Invite your neighbours round so they can see the quality of the work.

In terms of “taking up their time” they reassured me it will look good once finished when I pointed the door out. He said he will do one more coat but the scratch on the door is still visible and one part of the door looks shinier than the rest - what could fix this? He just asked me how they can fix that! Seriously he should know. I can’t believe he asked me how they should make it better. It was t a rhetorical question he was genuinely asking my opinion!
