Best Greek Island?

Going to take my mum on her first holiday in 5 years (ploughed all her money on her new house post divorce).

Where is just breath breathtakingly beautiful and not a tourist trap a la Mykonos?

We adore swimming in little coves, sun bathting, reading on the beach and going out for meals/drinks. A little bit of civilisation for shopping would be nice. It doesn’t have to be the most buzzing place.

Don’t know where to start!

Kalymnos & Telendos - fly into Kos . You can get a package . Stunning in a different way . Draws you in . Famous for climbing . Stay in myrties or massouri . Kantouni is nice too . Feels like proper Greece . It’s all about the views there .

@Poed Lesvos- fabulous island! We are returning for our 6th year as we love the atmosphere. We also do several long haul trips a year but it's our 'happy place/fly and flop". Direct flight from UK, excellent value for money and like Greece was 30 years ago. I made the mistake of mentioning it at the gym last year and a number of people booked and loved it and as a result over 20 people are going this year.

Another vote for Paxos if you want super sleepy and chilled. I went about 25 years ago, my first time to Greece. I am sure it's changed since then but with every trip to Greece I yearn to recreate that experience.

I like Corfu and Crete but obviously they are bigger and busier. Which has pluses and minuses. I currently go to Lefkada but only because it has an amazing little resort with a kids club and we haven't found anything like it anywhere else (it's called Mousses if anyone needs a recommendation!). Lefkada is nice, lovely views from the top. Not a great deal to do but there's enough. Great restaurants.

Crete- Chania is lovely. And easy access from airport.

Rhodes or Crete

Crete and Antiparos are my favourites. They’re completely different from one another though.

Another vote for Kefalonia, absolutely beautiful slow paced island. We stayed in Skala which was perfect for us. Make sure you do a boat trip to ithaca for swimming stops the water was the clearest id ever seen

Don't book the cheapest, you will regret it.
Go to Kassiopi in Corfu. The harbour is very lovely and in my opinion the prettiest in all of Corfu, lined with bars and tavernas. There are a couple of beaches with sunbeds. And some hotels and apartments with pools. Nothing high rise. Boat trips to other parts of the island go from here. It's not the cheapest part of Corfu but there is a reason for this.
Kassiopi is really a lovely place to stay. We stay at the Melina Bay Hotel because we like someone else cooking breakfast and making the bed 😎
The views from the pool and balconies are pretty stunning too.

Kassiopi has lots of accommodation to chose from - my advice would be to book as close to the harbour as you can. Some apartments/hotels say they are just a short walk out of town - don't book these they are probably miles away.
