The personalities of some influencers

I know this will come across as a bitchy thread but they piss me off so much! Such self indulgent drivel. I keep them on socials because every now and then they’ll put up a good recipe or something that is quite useful or inspiring but the day to day insipid, self pitying crap is beyond me.

Example: one who complains about how hard it is being a recently single mum and how she never gets a break despite spamming us all with trips to Paris and USA. And constant trips to lunches, spas and gigs.

Another one who totally over shares every single element of her kids lives and makes a mental health problem out of even the most trivial of inconveniences.

I remember reading so called mummy blogs about 10-15 years ago and finding these people relatively interesting and likeable. I enjoyed reading blogs and it felt like solidarity to me as a new mum at the time. Now it’s just utter privileged whining shite.

You're the one perpetuating the privileged whining shite by following them, though.

Because as I said they do occasionally post something useful. I just can’t imagine being so tone deaf you’d do endless posts about the struggles of being a single parent and never having a break but then post child free holiday snaps, bottomless brunches and gigs.

Yup. Just unfollow them. The whole internet is full of great recipes and other useful things, if that's the only reason you follow them. In fact I would argue you get to the good stuff sooner by not wasting time on influencers.

There are a million different places to get recipes from. Just unfollow.

They are totally awful!

I can’t stand the poses they all do when trying on clothes, they look like such dickheads, and the incessant tapping drives me into insanity and beyond.

I’m very aware there are trends but I cannot stand the homogeneity amongst the products they all drone on about - all the beige and brown and other neutral colours 🤮. All their clothes are neutrals and so is everything in their houses - can’t stand it!

I have managed to find some though who are into colour and maximalism thank goodness, but I still find them a bit annoying.

Millions of recipes are freely available without coming into contact with anyone drivelling on about their relationship status or MH problems.
