I've seen articles popping up in my feed about AA on some morning shows. The comments are horrendous calling her the most awful names and saying she's wrecked his career. Last time I looked he'd won Italian Strictly, got himself a new girlfriend, tour and a TV show in the offing.

AIBU to think this is as they say six of one and half a dozen of the other? Neither of them come over as snow white, but some of her complaints were upheld whilst others weren't.

I'm truly puzzled. It's probably simply commenters with a crush on GP but the misogyny and vitriol is awful.

OP posts:

I saw his tour a few weeks ago. It was brilliant. If his career looks as though it's being sustained I'm pleased for him.

Itsalwaysfools · 19/03/2025 07:13

You've said it yourself. It's good old fashioned misogyny. Woman not believed, judged, ridiculed, called horrendous names and career in the gutter for daring to stand up to a man.

HoskinsChoice · 19/03/2025 08:33

OP, you're not right in saying it's six of one and half a dozen of the the other. He had complaints made against him that were upheld. She is a victim and he is the perpetrator. It is all him!

It is disgusting the way the media have portrayed this in declaring him to be cleared in the headline and guilty buried in the articles. He is a misogynist who has got away almost scot free because of our equally misogynistic media.

Anyone who goes to see him and lines his pockets, despite him being found guilty, should be ashamed of themselves.

AA and other women brought to light his attitudes and investigations proved this to be true. HE IS GUILTY. It's not an opinion, it's fact. Why are people not getting this?

This will be unpopular but I can't stand her.

I don't think anyone deserves to be abused. I don't think anyone deserves to not be believed or not have their accusations taken seriously. Everyone deserves justice if they've been wronged.

Complaints against him have been upheld to some degree. That is a fact.

But I don't like or trust her and I think she plays to the camera. Has nobody ever noticed how she looks around the room and straight down the lens of the camera during interview? She knows exactly what she's doing.

Yanbu

I think part of the problem is that a lot of people just haven't warmed to her in the first place. She's beautiful and talented, but also forthright and outspoken.

Newsflash!!!!! She is an actor. It is her profession. She knows how to deal with tv cameras. What would you prefer? Dressed in sackcloth and mumbling at the floor? You're ridiculous.

You forgot to add “she was asking for it” 🙄

She doesn't deserve to be abused BUT...

There's always a 'but' where male abuse of women is concerned. I mean she looked down a camera. How dare she.

AA suffers from the same issue many women do when they raise a complaint - she’s not the “perfect victim”, she’s outspoken, has flaws , can be difficult herself, isn’t “likeable” enough. Therefore people think it is fine that she was treated poorly. It isn’t.

Newgirls · 19/03/2025 09:27

She was brave standing up to him. It would have been easier and better for her career NOT to, so I completely believe her.

i think people don’t want to believe her due to not wanting to dislike the shiny, sexy popular boy.

ilovesooty · 19/03/2025 09:32

Some of the complaints were upheld and some weren't. I don't have any particular feelings about her one way or the other. It was the second time I'd seen him on tour and no, I don't feel ashamed for going.

💯

I believe her 100%. It's just plain old misogyny (internalized and the regular sort). She is admirable for speaking out. Seems the show has been riddled with abusive behaviour from some quarters for years. Quelle surprise.

I like him as a dancer and pro but I find him as sexy as corn plasters.
