Can't change it to dark setting so it's blinding me and when I use the search bar nothing comes up! It's rubbish!

Sorry to say I’m still not used to the new app. I know change is hard but I really think it’s gone backwards from my long experience of reading Mumsnet.

Loved it how it was, if that could’ve stayed with the improvements it would’ve been great.

The white is blinding. The layout changes aren’t better.

Scrolling down reading threads is now really ‘ jolty’, I can’t think of a better way to describe it. Anyone else finding this?

Bookmark takes ‘ages’ and is a 2 step process. More faffy. Same as the flip, more faffy, was fine how it was.

Sent in the spirit of constructive feedback.

iPad is where I’m finding it horrible to use - iPhone seems better, no idea why, both used to be the same, I’ll start looking at mumsnet on my phone

HopingForTheBest25 · 19/03/2025 06:28

I'm on iPhone and think it's a much better app - I like that when you put a word in italics for example, you see it there and then and don't have to just post and hope it worked! Also like that it previews the post automatically, which will help reduce typos. And you can see reactions to your post, which the old app never did.

SorrowsPrayers · 19/03/2025 06:34

I agree. Awful on the iPad. It doesn't scroll nicely, just judders. It keeps freezing, after about two minutes of juddery scrolling. I have to switch off the iPad to get anything to work.
every task seems to take at least another click, and the circle of doom whilst it tries to do anything is always present.
Mumsnet is no longer a pleasant way to pass time.

autisticbookworm · 19/03/2025 06:45

I agree re brightness and scrolling is definitely more jolty and I dislike that several things have gone from being one click to two, how is that better?? I like that you can vote in the app and edit posts but the most annoying things for me are you can no longer read op’s posts on a full thread (without scrolling through the 1000 posts) and I can’t unwatch deleted posts s they sit there in my watched section making it harder to see the posts I actually want to watch.

autisticbookworm · 19/03/2025 06:50

Oh and the search filters are technically better except when you use them it takes ages to load and sometimes doesn’t load. And another really annoying thing is when I look at a post then leave it jolts me to another place on the feed or reloads the feed so I can’t see the previous posts which I wanted to look at.

Mydoglovescheese · 19/03/2025 17:14

I find the new look app much better, particularly the added features, so no complaints here.

marthaisintheway · 19/03/2025 17:53

Whenever I try to open a thread that I have previously bookmarked, it never opens at the bookmark. I judders around randomly for 20 seconds or so and then settles in some random place. It's so annoying.
Other than that I think the app is a massive improvement on the previous Android app.

Pippatpip · 19/03/2025 21:52

Agree with the jolting and it is making me feel slightly nauseous. The white is very bright. I went back onto on line yesterday but I don’t want to always do this. Possibly my Mumsnet days are getting fewer.

Hankunamatata · 19/03/2025 21:56

Gave up on the app as couldn't find - see all finction or next post function for op posts

LIZS · 19/03/2025 22:31

Anyone else find the order of replies within a thread varies despite how you set the default setting.

Periodicnamechanger · 19/03/2025 22:35

I much preferred the pages instead of constant scrolling as you can see how far you’ve got. Very poor user acceptance testing.

ODFOx · 19/03/2025 23:00

I like being able to vote and see my messages.
I do think that the colour scheme and design seems dated. I agree that a dark colour setting for night-time that aligns with my phone would be more comfortable.
I dislike change, but that is my problem and I will adapt. I appreciate this free app that I am in no way obligated to use.

Periodicnamechanger · 20/03/2025 07:24

Good point, @ODFOx . I can always walk away. The adverts are getting rather annoying, as well.

jellyfishperiwinkle · 20/03/2025 07:27

I only use the website but at times it's crazy buggy compared to others. Usually down to ads not loading.

RosemaryRabbit · 20/03/2025 09:40

Desperate for a dark mode or something to be done about the blinding brightness. I used to like reading threads in bed to relax but now it’s too dazzling and not relaxing anymore.

SapporoBaby · 20/03/2025 09:43

It’s miles better for me!

Tbrh · 20/03/2025 10:01

I think it's great! (Samsun

marthaisintheway · 21/03/2025 20:32

JÌŒjust tried to scroll through a thread to find where I had previously bookmarked. It was impossible to read. It bounced around all over the place. I gave up in the end.

LIZS · 22/03/2025 17:28

Screen keeps randomly refreshing so it goes blank, even when mid reading a thread , and sometimes the refresh sticks on TIO

JaneJeffer · 22/03/2025 17:31

Tbrh · 20/03/2025 10:01

I think it's great! (Samsun

If it’s so great where’s the rest of your sentence?

LIZS · 22/03/2025 18:06

And pages are slow to load and refresh
