Do I contact school even if it technically is parent responsibility ?

DD is in year 6
I am a single parent household and other parent is no longer around.
it’s an expensive year with lots of extras at school and always seems to be something.
DD has got in to a private school for September which the fees are being agreed by the Local authority but the uniform is quite expensive etc
the year 6 leavers and hoodies are organised by the class parent rep ( who in this case is particularly hard work )
we recently had to pay 25 pound for school hoodies to the parent rep and now the leavers party cost is approaching which is not much notice for 65.00 per head.
they are using the school hall for free and the school are supplying the staff.
I just can’t afford it right now, after the unexpected costs regarding registering the forms at private school and the increase in uniform costs as well as other issues.
however she won’t get to attend her primary leavers if it’s not paid ?
should I contact the school about the unreasonable cost despite it being technically organised by parent.

I would mention it, there may be a discretionary fund as well to help

£65?! That's beyond crazy!

That is a ridiculous price. Can’t think many parents are happy to pay that

£65 is a parent organiser gone completely crazy with planning the biggest, most show offy party they can

Tell the Head and ask for help. You will definitely not be the only one.
