My 2025-2026 bill has just landed. 5% increase in two sections and 11% for our local town council 🙄.
I think we're in the wrong band - we're band B and I think we should be Band A. That's based on sales data as close as I can find to the 1991 cut off date.
However, I cannot find any data at all before 1996 so it's harder to challenge. I can only find the price for when DH bought this house in 2008, but not the original sale to the people he bought it off - we know they bought it as a new build in 1980-ish.
Does anyone know how to find the proper history of sales prices? Zoopla doesn't have it for any house on this estate before 1996, and Land Registry only shows the most recent sales price.
AIBU or is this deliberately difficult to find - in part to stop us challenging the council tax bands?
